Special Loan Provisions for Coursework Titles
- Loan Period: Term of the semester for which the course is active (i.e. January to April or August to November). However, on request, the books can be issued one month prior to the start of semester till two weeks after the end of the course. For instance:
- For January-April semester: Max. loan term starts from December 1st – May 15th
- For August – November semester: Max. loan term starts from 1st July – December 15th
- This loan category is applicable only for faculty members
- Titles are considered Coursework Titles if and ONLY if they are prescribed in the course syllabus issued by the Academic Section for the semester under consideration
- Number of Loanable titles: There is no fixed number of loanable titles under coursework category. However, clause 3 is applicable
- While issuing the books at the circulation counter, faculty member must specify that a given title is issued as coursework. This will enable the counter staff to assign the due date according to the semester term for which it is prescribed
- Fine Calculation for coursework titles will be counted after the specified due date of the title (i.e. expiry of max. loan term given in clause 1)
- Renewal can be done for those coursework titles which are prescribed in the next semester for another course. At the end of the course, the books will be treated as general books on which general loan terms are applicable
Renewal
Physical Renewal
- This category is applied to non-faculty borrowers. Checked out books can be renewed before/on the due date. Books have to be brought physically to the library for each renewal
- Three consecutive renewals are allowed. After third renewal, the book has to be returned back to the library. The same can be reissued after a week from the date of return, if it is available in the library
Online renewal
Online renewals are allowed only for Faculty members. Online renewals are only possible within the due date. Online renewals after the due date can only be done after the fine settlement. Online renewal through email to the library can be sent in the following template:

Three consecutive renewals can be done through email notification. After third online renewal, the book has to be brought physically to the library for renewal.
Overdue
Overdue Reminder: Overdue reminders are sent to the borrower over the email from library.
Overdue charges: Rs. 1.00 after one working day post due date per day. (for instance: 10th is the due date, the fine shall be calculated from 12th onward). If due date falls on Friday, the fine calculation shall start from next working day i.e. after one working day i.e. Tuesday onwards)
KINDLY NOTE:
- Emails sent as Overdue reminders should not be considered as Due Date Reminder.
- To know the due date of a borrowed book, kindly refer to the due date slip at the back of book.
- Books returned after the due date will carry fine. Untill the fine is settled, the book will not be considered as returned to the library and the fine calculation will continue till its settlement.
Reservation
Books can be reserved by somebody can be reserved by other members through the Online Catalogue. The members have to log on to the catalogue using their library id number to make the reservation.
Online Book reservation: The books which are checked out, can be made 'reserve'. Locate the book in the online catalogue. If the book is already loaned, the reservation tab at the right hand side bottom will be shown active. Selecting "Reserve", you will be asked to enter your "Employee ID" i.e. your library user number. Entering your user id, the book will get reserved in your name. As soon as the book is returned to the library, the circulation counter staff will notice that the returned item is in reservation. The member will be notified about the availability of the reserved book in the library.
Recall
The loaned books can be recalled by members before the completion of due date. Recall request has to be registered at the circulation counter of the library. The loaned book(s) will be recalled within two days from the date of recall request (depending on the availability of member currently holding the book).
